For youth students looking for an excellent experience to collaborate in an orchestral setting, I highly recommend considering one of the three ensembles with the Triangle Youth Philharmonic. 

Registration is already underway for auditions. Cello auditions will be held August 19-20 at Athens Drive High School in Raleigh, with results announced by the Monday of Labor Day weekend.
